Sex And The City 2: Sarah Jessica Parker is ahead of the game again in show-stopping hat at London premiere

Stylish in the city: Sarah Jessica Parker arrives in a Alexander McQueen dress and amazing hat at the premiere of Sex And The City 2. She showed off her incredible biceps as she flicked her hair back

She was praised by fashion critics after wearing a daring Philip Treacy hat to the premiere of the first Sex And The City movie in London in 2008.

And it seems Sarah Jessica Parker took note of the compliments - choosing to wear another outrageous headpiece from the famed milliner for the London premiere of the film sequel.

The 45-year-old actress accessorised her billowing Alexander McQueen black strapless dress with the towering hat and black lace platform court shoes.

Parker also wore a black armband, perhaps her way of paying tribute to late fashion designer McQueen, who committed suicide in February.

She said: 'There's only one person I could have worn tonight and that was Alexander McQueen. Lee, this is for you. I miss you very much.'

The actress has long been a fan of the designer's work, and famously wore a green coloured dress to the premiere of the first film in 2008.

Following his death, Parker said: 'He was talented well beyond his years and the seriousness and unrivalled talent which he applied to his work is in bountiful display year after year and collection after collection.'

Co-stars: (Left to right) Kristin Davis opted for a metallic Norman Norell dress, Kim Cattrall went for strapless black Thierry Mugler with 40's waved hair and red lips and nails and Cynthia Nixon looked amazing in a long teal Narciso Rodriguez dress and hair extensions

She is also due to honour McQueen with a posthumous fashion award at the Council of Fashion Designers of America Awards next month.

Also in black at the premiere was Parker's co-star Kim Cattrall, who wore a strapless, embellished dress.

Parker said of working with her co-stars again: 'We were happy trapped together. We had four dressing rooms, we used one. it was like being back to the very first days

Difficult position: Parker struggles to get out of the car in the towering headpiece as she arrives

Hard work: Later Parker seemed unconcerned about her heavy headpiece as she signs autographs at the event

But instead of using accessories to liven up her outfit, Cattrall instead chose to debut a new 40's-inspired wave hairstyle and bright red lipstick - bringing her otherwise slightly boring outfit up to date and on trend.

Cynthia Nixon, who plays Miranda Hobbs in the film, added a splash of colour in an elegant teal dress with an asymmetric neckline, while Kristin Davis opted for a stylish metallic halterneck dress.

Britain's stars used the premiere to flaunt their sexiest little frocks.

Pop stars: (Left to right) Kylie Minogue, who wore a midnight blue dress, Emma Bunton, who opted for a Victoria Beckham print wrap dress from her spring/summer 2010 collection, and Alexandra Burke

Poser: Kylie also shared the red carpet with Pineapple Dance Studios creative director Louie Spence

Britain's Got Talent judge Amanda Holden opted for a baby pink creation, while Doctor Who's Karen Gillan showed off her long legs in a minidress.

Kylie Minogue, Alexandra Burke, Rachel Stevens, Tess Daly and Emma Bunton were also at the premiere.

Despite reports suggesting the four actresses do not get on and often argued during the filming, all of the stars have denied the feud rumours.

Parker said in an interview with Marie Claire recently: 'When you’re on set, you’re working 90-hour weeks, you’re never home, you’re exhausted, there are times when all of us have been sensitive, and sometimes feelings get hurt. But I don’t have any regrets about how I’ve treated people.'

And Kim Cattrall added: 'Because the press has to put women in these boxes, rather than show them as the movie portrays them: working together and being powerful, things just have to be explosive for no other reason then for people’s imaginations.'

Fans has lined up in their thousands in London's Leicester Square to catch a glimpse of the film's stars, with some having camped out for more than 24 hours before tonight's event.

The Sex And The City series drew millions of devotees around the world who followed the ups and downs in the love lives of Carrie, Charlotte, Samantha and Miranda.

Viewers had an insight into their world of Jimmy Choos, cosmopolitan cocktails and rollercoaster relationships for six series, until the show ended in 2004.

Leggy ladies: (Left to right) Penny Lancaster wore purple, Alice Eve, who plays a nanny in the film, wore a sequinned dress and blazer combination, and Doctor Who's Karen Gillan went for basic black

It was revived for the big screen in 2008, becoming a huge hit and taking around £288million at the box office.

For the new film the girls spread their wings from Manhattan and head to Abu Dhabi. But the new film has not been an instant hit with reviewers.

Enjoying the sunshine: (Left to right) Emma Roberts, Lisa Snowdon and former Hollyoaks actress Roxanne McKee

However, the negative reviews have not put Parker off making another film to complete the trilogy.

She was quoted earlier this week as saying she 'would love to make Sex and the City 3 in Greece and especially in Mykonos'.

Anticipation: Many fans had queued for over 24 hours in a bid to catch a glimpse of the four actresses

Despite the negative reviews, thousands turned up for the event in London's Leicester Square
