"I've never thought it was a curse to be single, and at this point in my life, I'm in the mind-set where I choose to be single," says the country singer.
Contrary to mounting persistent rumors of her dating Taylor Lautner, Taylor Swift insists she is still unattached. "I've never thought it was a curse to be single, and at this point in my life, I'm in the mind-set where I choose to be single - like I got to light scented candles and write in my diary and I wouldn't have time for that if I had a boyfriend right now!" she tells In Style's December issue.
Though so, Swift makes no attempt to hide her close bond with Lautner, saying she and the 17-year-old hunk have become "really close" since they are billed to star as lovers in upcoming film "Valentine's Day". She goes on revealing one funny story happening on the set of the comedy-romance flick where she and Lautner got confused of their first name. "It would be confusing on the set with two Taylors in the same scene. They were like, 'Taylor, on your mark - no, not you, the other one!' So halfway through the shoot, I said, 'How about you guys call me Swifty and call him Taylor?' " she tells In Style.
Still in the same interview, the 19-year-old country music singer also shares about the importance of staying grounded while living her life under the spotlight. "I don't feel as if I need to make some giant statement," she muses. "When you start over-thinking everything, you stop being who you are and start being who you think you should be ... I'm just going to continue to be who I am."
The December 2009 issue of In Style features Taylor Swift as its model. The edition will hit the newsstands this coming Friday, November 20.
