Peace at last: LeAnn Rimes and Eddie Cibrian show off their love on a family day out at the beach

New family: LeAnn Rimes strolls on the Malibu sand with boyfriend Eddie Cibrian and his sons Jake and Mason at the weekend

They looked like any other happy family playing on the beach.

But for actor Eddie Cibrian, 37 and country singer LeAnn Rimes, 27, it was a rare opportunity to feel normal in public.

The couple have been widely criticised for getting together when they were both married to other people, but now it seems like the dust has settled

And now the pair are confident to go out as a family with Eddie's two sons, Mason, six, and Jake, three. They were spotted at the weekend in Malibu strolling hand in hand barefoot on the beach.

Mason and Jake were running around and playing and at one point they got LeAnn and Eddie to join in a rock-skimming contest.

LeAnn enjoyed herself so much she even tweeted: 'Skipped rocks on the beach this morning [with Eddie], Now off to do a show. Hope to see some of you on Phoenix tonight!!!'

Eddie and LeAnn and the kids recently celebrated the 4th of July together in Santa Barbara, where the singer was photographed being affectionate with her boyfriend in front of the children.

The photos were criticised, but LeAnn fired back on Twitter. She wrote: 'Since when is kissing your boyfriend a crime?! Who's right was it to take pics of us in a private moment and display them for judgement?! I love my fans, the people who know my heart and stick beside me.'

It's been a rocky road for the couple, with acrimonous divorces on both sides. Eddie was married to model Brandi Glanville for eight years, while LeAnn had been married to dancer Dean Sheremet, 29, for seven.

Eddie and LeAnn fell for each other on made-for-TV movie Northern Lights in Canada and messy break-ups ensued.

Brandi, for one, has come around to the idea of her ex-husband's new love, particularly where her children are concerned. She told In Touch Weekly that the boys have become close to LeAnn. She said: 'They talk about her all the time.

Initially, it was difficult, but she seems to be a positive influence in their life.'
As for Eddie, he looked the picture of happiness, despite recently being cut from the hit CBS show CSI: Miami just a year after joining the cast.

For now, it seems to be smooth sailing for the couple. Rimes said last month: 'I take responsibility for everything I've done. I hate that people got hurt. But I don't regret the outcome.'
