Landscape Photographer of the Year 2009

A free exhibition of the winning and commended entries is being held at the Lyttelton Foyer, National Theatre, London SE1 from 5 December until 24 January 2010. A book featuring the entries, Landscape Photographer of the Year: Collection 03 will be published on 31 October by AA Publishing at £25. Kilnsey Show Fell Race, North Yorkshire. Held each year on the first Tuesday after the August bank holiday, the race is part of a major agricultural show in the Yorkshire Dales. This picture of runners struggling through the mud won the Living the View category

Summit ridge of Blencathra, Lake District national park. This picture, taken at 3.20pm on Christmas Day, as sun set, won the English National Parks award. It is 60 years this year since the National Parks and Access to the Countryside Act was passed, creating national parks, and the English National Parks Authority sponsored this competition

This photograph of sunrise over the Old Man of Storr on the Isle of Skye was chosen as the best of thousands of entries showing some of the UK's finest views. Paris-based photographer Emmanuel Coupe takes home £10,000, and his picture will be the centrepiece of a free exhibition at the National Theatre in London from 5 December
