'Due Date' Recruits Jamie Foxx

The Academy Award-winning actor will team up once again with his co-star in 'The Soloist', Robert Downey Jr., for this Todd Phillips-directed comedy.

The cast ensemble of "Due Date" is expanding with the addition of Jamie Foxx. The Ray Charles of 2004's drama "Ray" has signed on to join the already attached stars, Robert Downey Jr., Zach Galifianakis and Michelle Monaghan, for this forthcoming road-trip movie.

The 41-year-old will portray the longtime friend of Downey Jr.'s main character. It is explained that his character once dated the lead character's wife and secretly keeps in touch with her. This will be his first collaboration with the "Iron Man 2" star after they appeared together in the April-released "The Soloist".

"Due Date" centers on a hard-charging L.A. business executive whose wife is about to have their first child. While rushing to witness the birth of his child, the dad-to-be gets stuck in a snowstorm and is forced to hitch a ride with a laid-back college kid to make it. Described to be "a buddy comedy without the buddies", it will be filmed in Atlanta, Arizona and Los Angeles sometime this fall.

Todd Phillip directs. He also co-produces with his GreenHat Films partner Daniel Goldberg, while Scott Budnick and Susan Downey are executive producing. Warner Bros. Pictures targets a November 5, 2010 U.S. release.

A recipient of Academy Awards' Best Actor title, Jamie Foxx has starred in various movies. His feature film credits include "Any Given Sunday", "Ali", "Collateral" and "Dreamgirls". He recently wrapped filming "Valentine's Day", and will be seen starring as Nick Rice opposite Gerard Butler in "Law Abiding Citizen".
