Angelina Jolie appeals for more aid as she meets flood victims in ravaged Pakistan

By Daniel Bates

Sorrow: The empathy on Angelina's face is clear to see as she listens to people that have been displaced by the floods

If she had wanted to melt into the crowd, she failed.

There was no missing Angelina Jolie when she visited victims of the Pakistan floods.

With her head covered in a black scarf, she did her best to blend in with a group of women she was meeting who had lost their children in the disaster.

But despite her grave expression, something about that perfectly made-up face, bee-stung lips and the way she wore her new head dress was pure Hollywood.

The 35-year-old actress was visiting the Kandaro II Camp in Nowshera, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, in her role as a goodwill ambassador for the United
Nations.

More than 1,500 Pakistanis have been killed and around 20million affected by flooding brought on by the annual monsoon rains last month.

Crops have been devastated and disease is spreading among survivors.

'I am very moved by them and I hope that I am able to do something to help bring attention to the situation for all of the people in need in Pakistan,' Miss Jolie said.

‘This is not just a humanitarian crisis, it is an economic and social catastrophe’.

Deep in though: The actress appeared wistful as she met with the local people

Appeal for aid: Jolie appeals to the international community to donate more money to the relief effort

She visited Pakistan after a hectic schedule of promoting her latest movie Salt, in which she plays a glamorous Russian secret agent.

Jolie has tried to model herself as an Earth mother and humanitarian saviour whilst at the same time playing tough all-action roles such as in the spy thriller ‘Salt’, her latest film.

Nowhere is this more apparent than how she dresses - at the Russian premiere for ‘Salt’, she strolled down the red carpet with abandon in a flowing red gown, later donning a figure-hugging black skirt for a photo shoot.

Displaced: Over 17million people have been affected by the floods

For the South Korean premiere she wore a tight-fitting black dress and at a screening in Hollywood she dazzled with a sequined black outfit.

Jolie was seen wearing sunglasses, a trench coat and dark trousers in London as she switched flights en route to Pakistan.

It was only when she got to the camp that she switched into the more sombre attire.

Jolie’s wild partying days were recently raked over in a biography which claimed her mother abandoned her for two years when she was a baby.

Andrew Morton’s book also claimed she had a slew of affairs including with Mick Jagger and Leonardo DiCaprio before marrying Brad Pitt and starting their family with six children.
