The challenge of producing a series of show-stopping outfits for a movie promotion tour can be daunting for any actress.
But Sarah Jessica Parker and Kristen Davis showed exactly why they have been labelled style icons when they arrived at the Sex And The City afterparty in metallic sparkly dresses - just hours after wearing brightly-coloured gowns for the world premiere.
Parker changed out of her lemon Valentino gown into a sheer Elie Saab dress teamed with Nicholas Kirkwood heels - the perfect choice for a bit of night-time glamour.
Nighttime glamour: Sarah Jessica Parker wore an Elie Saab dress and Nicholas Kirkwood heels for the afterparty, while Kristin Davis sparkled in vintage Balmain and Rene Caovilla sandals
The actress was joined at the afterparty in New York's Lincoln Centre by co-star Davis, who looked stunning in a vintage Balmain sequinned dress and Rene Caovilla strappy sandals.
But while Davis and Parker opted to change into something a bit more comfortable, not to mention sexy, for the afterparty, co-stars Kim Cattrall and Cynthia Nixon chose to stay in their premiere outfits.
And no wonder, when the outfits were as stunning as they were.
Happy as we are: Kim Cattrall and Cynthia Nixon didn't change for the afterparty, but still looked stunning in their premiere outfits
Cattrall wore a flattering gold Naeem Khan gown, while Nixon went for the safe (if slightly boring) option of a black dress by Caroline Herrera.
And while all eyes were on the dresses, the shoe choices were also important - especially for Parker, who's on-screen alter ego Carrie Bradshaw is obsessed with designer heels.
But Parker said since welcoming twins Tabitha and Marion, who were born to a surrogate, into her family, she has said goodbye to many of her favourite shoes.
Fluorescent ladies: Earlier in the night, Parker wore Valentino Couture for the premiere, while Davis opted for vintage Jean Desses
Speaking about how the girls ruined a pair of Manolo Blahniks, Parker told Heart FM: 'I’ve had spit and vomit and urine all over clothes and body parts and toes and in the fine wool of a carpet and the wood-grain.
'It happened last night when I got home. My daughter just started vomiting and there you go.
‘But, you know, I’m one of eight kids and I raised four of them so this is not new to me.’

Floaty: Parker made a statement in her bright gown and silver Salvatore Ferragamo heels
Fan mania: Hundreds of fans gathered outside Radio City Music Hall to catch a glimpse of their idols
Speaking about her dress, the mother-of-three said: 'I cared about being presentable to that degree. I never want to embarrass my children or my family. It's always lovely to get to borrow a beautiful dress.'
While fans in New York were digesting the High Street implications of the four actresses' outfits, they were given a jolt by the arrival of Liza Minnelli.
The diva, who has a guest role performing Beyonce's Single Ladies at a wedding in the film, appeared to have wrapped herself in rubbish bags prior to arriving at Radio City Music Hall
Yellow peril: SJP's triumphant performance on the red carpet didn't come without the odd hiccup as her dress became caught in her heel and then blew up revealing a bit more than she'd anticipated
While the fabric was undoubtedly unflattering, it was also incredibly sheer - meaning the 64-year-old's unattractive underwear was also on show.
However, either the 64-year-old singer was unaware of how see-through her outfit went under the photographers' glare, or she was proud of her decision to be 'fashion forward', as Minnelli laughed, smiled and spun round as she walked down the red carpet.

Leaving the full-length glamour to the leading ladies was their co-star, Brit actress Alice Eve, who plays a nanny called Erin in the sequel. Looking as prim as a nanny, she showed off her curves in a grey L'Wren Scott dress and ruby peep-toe heels.
Other stars at the highly-anticipated premiere were Ghost Whisperer star Jennifer Love Hewitt, Gossip Girl actress Jessica Szohr, Ugly Betty stars Vanessa Williams and Becki Newton, The City reality TV star Whitney Port and singer Ashanti.
Carrie's two men: John Corbett (left) returns for the sequel as her ex Aidan Shaw, and Chris Noth, who attended with wife Tara Wilson, who plays Carrie's husband John James Preston, aka Mr Big
Part of the team: (L-R) Jason Lewis is back again as Samantha's ex Smith Jerrod, Willie Garson reprises his role as Carrie's gay best friend Stanford Blatch, while Sex And The City author Candace Bushnell also attended
Hollywood star Amanda Peet, who gave birth to her first child just five weeks ago, made her first red carpet appearance since becoming a mother.
Male eye candy came in the form of Jason Lewis, who plays Cattrall's character Samantha's on-off love interest, and Carrie's husband Mr Big, aka John James Preston, played by Chris Noth.
While absent from the first film, John Corbett returned for the sequel to reprise his role as Carrie's ex Aidan Shaw, who she cheated on with Mr Big in Series 3 of the TV show.
