Lady Gaga subjected to private body search at airport after refusing to remove her veil

Hidden: Lady Gaga arrives at Los Angeles International Airport last night in hair-lined boots and her face covered with a black veil

Most celebrities wear huge black sunglasses when going through airports in order to hide their jet-lagged eyes or maintain their celebrity status.

And Lady Gaga was no exception, although she typically had to take it one step further with a black face veil over her sunglasses.

But while most pop stars and actors are happy to take them off once they reach the security gate, Gaga dug in her hair-fringed heels and point blank refused.

The Telephone singer was catching a flight out of Los Angeles last night, and in true Gaga fashion, turned up in a bizarre emsemble of fishnet tights, a long black leather jacket and knee-high black boots - which appeared to have been decorated with blonde hair.

But it was the sunglasses and black netting on her face that drew the most attention after she refused to take it off at passport control.

Security guards were forced to escort her into a private room where she was body-searched before being released 15 minutes later to catch her departing flight.

At least her outfit didn't pose a health risk unlike the chevron road sign dress and blue Alexandra McQueen high heels she wore when she flew out of the UK at the weekend

According to the Sun, the shoes started to make her legs swell, and concerned cabin crew, worried that it could be the early stages of deep vein thrombosis – encouraged Gaga to take them off.

Yesterday, she unveiled even more funky attire in scenes from her new music video for her single Telephone, a duet with Beyonce.

In one she is wrapped in police tape that reads 'Crime Scene - Do Not Enter' while another sees her chained up while wearing sunglasses covered in cigarettes
Gaga returns to the UK in May to extend her Monster Ball tour but has faced a backlash from fans after the price of her concert tickets doubled ahead for the second leg.

Her original tickets sold for between £27.50 and £35, while upcoming dates in May and June are priced between £50 and £75.
