Jordin Sparks Praises Rihanna and Chris Brown's Decision to Go Public

The 'Freeze' singer gives credit to both Rihanna and Chris Brown for publicly sharing the stories behind their infamous assault, saying that it will help girls to become more aware of the same matter

Jordin Sparks has praised both Rihanna and Chris Brown for their decision to go public with their stories following the vicious fight which ended their relationship last year, 2009. Brown pleaded guilty to assault after lashing out at his then-girlfriend following a pre-Grammy Awards party in Los Angeles last February 2009.

The singer was handed a community service order, five years probation and ordered to stay away from his former lover. After Brown was sentenced in August , they both subsequently gave interviews telling their side of the story.

And Sparks is glad the former couple both aired their views on the event, because it has raised awareness of domestic violence. She tells Britain's Metro newspaper, "It (the assault) was very sad. It's great that Rihanna spoke about it to tell girls it's not okay when something like that happens but then also for Chris to say it was stupid of him to do that."

"I'm sure there are other guys who have done the same thing and it shows they can take steps to get better too. I've met both of them, so it's difficult to see people you know going through something like that."
