Parents to be: Kris Smith and Dannii Minogue, with just a hint of a baby bump, leaving a Melbourne hospital yesterday


She stayed mum on the rumours that have been swirling around over the past few weeks.

But yesterday Dannii Minogue confirmed she is three months pregnant with her first child.

The baby, whose father is her boyfriend Kris Smith, is due in late July.

Last night it was unclear whether the pregnancy would mean the end of Miss Minogue's job as a judge on The X Factor.

Sources close to the singer said she wanted to keep working, but insiders on the show said she would not return.

Miss Minogue, 38, and former rugby league player-turned-model Smith, 31, were said to be 'very excited' about the baby.

They were spotted leaving a hospital near Dannii's family home in Melbourne, Australia, after she underwent a 12-week scan.

Miss Minogue then confirmed the news on Twitter, telling followers: 'Woo hoo I'm going to be a mummy!' while Smith responded: 'Woo hoo I'm going to be a daddy!'
Her sister, popstar Kylie, wrote: 'Congratulations to my sister Dannii and her partner Kris on the happy news!!!! I am so excited to be an Aunty again!! WOW WOW WOW!! xxx'

Dannii's spokesman Simon Jones added yesterday: 'Dannii and Kris are very excited and can't wait to start their family in 2010.'

The couple have been together since 2008.

As for The X Factor, which begins auditions in June, a source close to the star said: 'There is no reason why she could not do the show. Holly Willoughby took her newborn baby to auditions last year.'

But a show insider said: 'Even though she had one of her best series last year and was very strong, there were some producers who felt her time was up anyway, [regardless of the pregnancy]. Replacements are being looked at.'

Robbie Williams and Mel B are thought to be among the contenders.

Recent photos of Miss Minogue in Melbourne with a hint of a baby bump set off internet rumours, but she refused to comment before her scan.
