Stationery vehicle: The VW Golf is admired by passers-by following the prank
Drivers can often come unstuck when they try parking in the town centre, least of all on New Year's Eve.
But one motorist in Bristol has certainly got the message not to bother trying again.
The shocked owner of a Volkswagen Golf awoke at the dawn of 2010 to find his car covered in hundreds of fluorescent Post-it notes in an apparent prank.
No part of the car was left untouched with the hubcaps littered with yellow Post-its and the headlights blanked out by a collection of orange bits of paper.
Even the famous VW badge on the front was covered during the attack on a busy street in central Bristol.
Neither the driver nor the culprits have been identified, but a clue could be in a collection of Post-its on the rear windscreen seemingly spelling the name 'Matt'.
Meanwhile in a similar prank in Warwickshire a statue of the village of Dunchurch’s most famous benefactor was transformed into Homer Simpson.
Jokers tied a life size version of The Simpson's character around the monument of Lord John Scott, who died in 1860.
