In memory: David Beckham in Los Angeles yesterday on crutches sporting a new tattoo in tribute to his late grandfather Joseph West
His arms and torso are covered in countless tattoos - but now one above all others occupies a special place in David Beckham's heart.
The injured footballer was spotted sporting a new etching on his arm yesterday that simply read 'grandad', in tribute to his late grandfather Joseph West.
Becks was spotted with the marking as he headed out for dinner in Los Angeles with his father Ted and children while wife Victoria was in Russia promoting her new dress collection.

West, the father of Beckham's mother Sandra, passed away aged 83 in December after losing his battle with cancer.
David learnt of the death as he landed in South Africa, to help England win the race to host the 2018 World Cup.
The 34-year-old star had just landed at Cape Town when he was told the news by distraught family members.
The multi-millionaire footballer was extremely close to Joe and often cited him as his footballing inspiration.
Joe was a huge Tottenham Hotspur fan. In August, the Beckhams rushed back from LA to the UK after he was taken into hospital.
At the time, a friend told MailOnline: 'David is absolutely devastated. He was so close to Joe, who was his mentor.
'He only got off the plane when he heard the news.'
Yesterday Becks was spotted on crutches in Los Angeles, taking his father and younger two sons Cruz and Romeo to the Brazilian steakhouse Fogo De Chao
Proud day: David's grandfather, Joseph West (L), accompanied him and Victoria to Buckingham Palace with wife Peggy when the star received his OBE in 2003
