Hacked off! Britney Spears takes the shears to her outfit as she steps out in cut-off shirt and shorts

Surely it's about time that the multi-millionairess Britney Spears swallowed her pride and hired a stylist?

Because going on her latest fashion statement, the woman could do with a serious makeover, or at least some advice about what NOT to wear.

The pop star was snapped out and about in Los Angeles yesterday in an outfit that looked as though it had been hacked at with a pair of scissors.

The brown shorts were all frayed at the bottom and unfortunately for the 28-year-old, showed off her cellulite on the back of her thighs.

She teamed the shorts with a light pink lacy top that had been cut away at the bottom and showed off her toned midriff.

Underneath that she wore a pink bra that showed at the bottom of her cut-off top.

The outfit was completed by a heavy pair of cowboy boots and her long blonde hair was straggly, her extensions all too clear to see as she headed to her car.

She spent some time shopping at bookstore Barnes & Noble where she picked up some CDs, including Lily Allen's last album, It's Not Me, It's You.

Sadly, and probably unbeknown to Britney, she bought the CD the same day that her British contemporary announced that she had suffered a miscarriage in the sixth month of her second pregnancy.

This is not the first time that Britney has been scrutinised for her strange, mismatched outfits.

The star has been snapped several times in the past year in a number of unusual ensembles, having appeared to have let herself go when it comes to her fashion sense.

Her latest fashion faux pas happened just over a week ago, when she was snapped leaving a dinner date with boyfriend Jason Trawick looking a multi-coloured mess in a pink patterned T-shirt, plum coloured cardigan, blue jeans, grey suede boots and a bight red handbag.
