More cities will be scared up by micro-budget thriller "Paranormal Activity". Receiving over 230,000 demands from coast-to-coast following the past weekend screening, Paramount Pictures announced the plan to expand the movie to 20-additional cities across the U.S. starting this Friday, October 2. The 20 cities will be Los Angeles, CA; New York, NY; Chicago, IL; Dallas, TX; Houston, TX; San Diego, CA; Phoenix, AZ; San Francisco, CA; Philadelphia, PA; Atlanta, GA; Miami, FL; San Antonio, TX; Las Vegas, NV; Minneapolis, MN; Denver, CO ; Detroit, MI; DC/Baltimore; Sacramento, CA; San Jose, CA; and Tampa, FL. While more cities are added, the movie will continue to play as a midnight only showing.
Receiving a very small limited release with it being shown only in 12 theaters on September 25, the movie that was shot for $11,000 over the period of one week played to sold-out crowds. Fans are still urged to demand the film to be played in their cities if their cities are yet to be found in the list by visiting the film's website.
"Paranormal Activity" is directed by first time writer/director Oren Peli and is presented entirely as home video footage. It follows a young, middle class couple after they move into a new house. What seems like a typical suburban 'starter' tract house turns to be a nightmare for the pair when they become increasingly disturbed by a presence that may or may not be somehow demonic but is certainly most active in the middle of the night.
