The Pussycat Dolls Are on a Break, Melody Thornton Confirms

Confirming that her band The Pussycat Dolls are taking some time off from the industry, Thornton however assures she and her bandmates are not breaking up.

Talking to MTV News about the future of her all-girl music group, Melody Thornton has confirmed that The Pussycat Dolls are taking some time off from the spotlight. "Right now the Pussycat Dolls are on a break. It's actually a much-needed break," she says in a statement. "It's like when you're with your sisters for 24 hours a day and you need to take your own shower."

"Yeah, we're taking a break. No, [we're not broken up]", Thornton continues. "Everybody keeps saying that, but it's like, let me see who took a break? Dave Chappelle. Remember when Dave Chappelle took that break? OK, maybe Dave Chappelle's a bad example. What about, like, Hootie & The Blowfish?"

When asked if she's been using the break time to record solo album, Thornton declines to give direct answer. Instead she simply states, "Well, I always tell people that I've been working since the beginning of Pussycat Dolls and making records and always staying true to my passion, which is music, 'cause I love it. Absolutely I'm making music. I love it and I'm gonna live it."

MTV News has tried to contact a representative for The Pussycat Dolls for comment on Thornton's statement. Yet, the network hasn't received any response.
